IGP Isola dei Nuraghi is a wine appellation that covers the whole Island of Sardinia.
Major white grape varieties approved for the region of Sardegna (Sardinia) include Vermentino, Nuragus, Vernaccia di Oristano, Moscato Bianco, and Torbato. Many of these are native to the island and are used to produce several of its signature wines.
The main red grape varieties approved for use in Sardegna are the native Cannonau and Monica, as well as Carignan and Bovale (Bovale Sardo). Other less common native varieties include Girò, Nieddera, and Pascale, while international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are also permitted in some Sardegna IGTs.
